How many achievements does Mortal Shell II have?
53 achievements on Steam, confirmed against the official Steam Community achievement page, which now also carries global unlock rates.
On PS5 the same milestones appear as 53 trophies, broken down as:
| Platform | Count | Breakdown | Verification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steam | 53 | Global unlock rates published | Confirmed |
| PS5 | 53 | 1 Platinum / 1 Gold / 10 Silver / 41 Bronze (15 secret) | Community |
| Xbox | 53 | Mirrors the same milestones | Community |
So a "trophy guide" and an "achievement guide" cover the same checklist. What follows is everything confirmed about how to clear it — plus an explicit list of what still needs in-game verification.
Confirmed facts about the list
- No traditional difficulty settings exist, so there are no difficulty-dependent achievements. Platform FAQ data confirms difficulty does not affect trophies. Note that the game does have a Night-related mechanic and challenge structure, which is not a difficulty slider.
- Missable trophies: Sin confirmar. We do not publish a count here. Establishing which milestones can be permanently missed requires finishing the game and checking against the live achievement list, and no authoritative source confirms it. See the unconfirmed list below.
- NG+ exists, which means anything bond-gated or Glimpse-gated can be finished on a second run.
The one thing that can permanently block your run
Equipping the Slayer Seal disables achievements on that save. The Slayer Seal is the game's built-in easy mode: it grants the Gloom Slayer perk, adds a Slayer Punch that dashes in and inflicts break damage, and restores health and resolve when you riposte an enemy in a "glorious" manner. It is very strong and it is the one choice that will cost you a platinum run.
If you are chasing 100%, never let the Slayer Seal stay equipped. Pick it up so you have the option, but swap back to the Untarnished, Vatra or Infinite Seal before any fight that matters.
Because Glimpses and high-tier Shell bonds are expensive and appear finite within a single playthrough, the practical 100% plan is: complete everything you can in one run, then use a second run to finish any Shell-specific or bond-gated milestones you could not afford the first time.
Achievements we can confirm exist
Only a few individual achievements are named in the sources we reviewed:
- Prologue boss — a walkthrough explicitly references "how to beat the Tar Golem from the prologue and get the achievement", which confirms a tutorial-boss achievement tied to that fight.
- Weapon-named achievements — the Steam achievement page independently confirms the existence of Great Martyr's Blade, Black Needle, Clockwork Scythe, Forgotten Crossbow and Axe and Dagger as named entities in the game. This is the most useful cross-check we have for the weapon roster, because achievement names come from the game data itself rather than from a wiki.
- Shell-related milestones — progression through Shells and bond levels is tracked, but the exact achievement names are Sin confirmar.
The full 53-name list is not reproduced here on purpose. Achievement names can be extracted from the live Steam page, and publishing them from memory would risk errors. This table is filled the moment every entry is pulled name-by-name from the official page.
Estimated completion time
| Source | Estimate | Verification |
|---|---|---|
| TrueAchievements | 40-50 hours | Community (data site) |
| Player completion report | ~45 hours | Community report |
| Player completion report | ~40 hours | Community report |
| HowLongToBeat | — | TBD |
| Official figure | — | TBD |
Use 40-60 hours as the working range. The lower bound comes from TrueAchievements; the upper bound reflects the spread across individual completion reports. There is no official figure and no HowLongToBeat entry — see the Game Length page for the full breakdown.
The three systems that govern most of the list
Almost every Mortal Shell II achievement will touch one of these systems, so understand them before you start optimising.
Shell bonds. Bonding with a Shell costs Glimpses and unlocks tiers of that Shell's skill tree. Reaching the later tiers is expensive, and Glimpses appear to be limited per playthrough. This is the resource that decides whether a completionist run takes one playthrough or several.
Dungeon and beacon completion. Beacon dungeons notify you when they are cleared; fog-gate dungeons do not. If an achievement is tied to dungeon completion, your own map notes are the only reliable tracker, because the game will not tell you.
Tarstones and weapons. Tarstones level through combat XP and need Tar Core for their third tier, and weapons can be respecced later in the game. Any achievement tied to upgrading equipment is therefore reachable without a perfect early build.
Known risks to a clean 100% run
Players have reported bugs and softlocks in the community megathread, including missing rewards and quest softlocks. Both categories are exactly the kind of bug that silently blocks an achievement. If a milestone does not pop, check the known-issues megathread before assuming you did something wrong, and keep a manual backup of your save where the platform allows it.
Recommended order
- Finish the prologue and take the Tar Golem achievement immediately — it is the only one we know for certain is early.
- Buy and bond Tiel, then work through the Widow's Overlook beacon and the Mushroom Village.
- Cleanse every beacon you pass so you unlock Mether's Breath and can return for missed content.
- Clear dungeons systematically and mark them on the map as you go.
- Leave Shell-specific and bond-gated milestones for a second run — NG+ exists, and after Balance Patch 1 the Shell map uses Gloom rather than Glimpses, with spent Glimpses refunded. That materially changes how tight the resource budget is, so re-check the economy before planning a completion route.
Still needs in-game verification
- The exact names of all 53 achievements (pull from the live Steam page, do not paraphrase).
- Whether any trophy is missable, which ones, and the precise point of no return for each. NG+ exists, which reduces the missable risk considerably — but that still needs verifying.
- Any achievement tied to NPC questlines — the Grisha Hunters near the Chapel are the most likely candidate, and their questline is itself Sin confirmar.
- Whether any achievement is locked behind endings, since the ending count is still Sin confirmar.
Everything on this list is genuinely unknown rather than merely unwritten. We would rather ship a short honest page than a long confident one.
